Here it is. The Evil Letter. Side note: The romance Eleanor is encouraging would lead to a minor civil war/skirmishes. Around 800 people would die b/c Louis eventually lost his temper and burned Vitry (a town) and everyone got caught in the church. To add to the trippy factor: Louis would have been about 18, Eleanor 16, and Petra maybe 14 or 15. Don't know how old the Count would have been.

So see, there was a time when teenagers ruled the world. It was Melrose Place, with swords. And Plagues. And disapproving old dudes in robes.

In 1137, Duke William X of Aquitaine died leaving his 15-year-old daughter Eleanor a vast realm that stretched from the River Loire to the Pyrenees (Bos). King Louis the Fat, named as her guardian, wasted no time in marrying the girl to his son. Within days of the marriage news reached the newlyweds that Louis the Fat was dead. A short while later, Eleanor and her new husband were crowned the king and queen of France (Naranjo).

Even though I should really, really, really be working on homework, but dear gods, one can only deal with so much 12th century Western European royal intrigue before you start wanting to... move to Aquitaine. *hangs head in shame* Damn it. And I thought I had that Courtly Love fixation buried in my childhood.

Honestly this letter could be so short, witness:

From Her Majesty Queen Aleanor of France, Duchess of Aquitaine, to her sister Petronilla,
Dearest Petra,
Ma souer, how I miss you! Paris sucks. It's smelly and there are flies everywhere. Louis is boring. So are his chancellors. Plus, no one here combs their hair and they wear the ugliest clothes I have ever seen. I wish you were here to make fun of them with me.
I am trying to prepare for the Yule celebrations, but you would not believe what awful entertainers they have here. God, the North is so boring. All pray, pray, pray, and oh look, weave a tapestry.
So what's this about you and the count? He's gorgeous. Did you know he's a seneschal? Oh, he's married to the duke of Champaigne's neice. But heavens, when should marriage stand in the way of love? Besides, you are the sister of the Queen of France! Follow your heart.
love,
Aleanor

of course, it can't be that simple... it has to have internal citations. And I'm going to make it sound a little more period correct.

My Unitarian Jihad Name is: Sister Katana of Sweet Reason.

Get yours.

Although I did fancy being "The Handgrenade of Moderation" or "The Gattling Gun of Love and Courtesy" but thought perhaps that might be a bit presumptuous. "Sister Machine Gun of Loving Kindness" of also sounded fitting.
